0:51
Hello, and welcome back to the fat fuelled female podcast. I hope you are having a fabulous day. Whether it is the morning, afternoon, evening, whatever time of the day, it is for you right now.
1:03
And I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to hang out with me today. Whether this is your very first episode you are tuning into, or you listened to a bunch or you listened to a handful. I appreciate you. And I hope these episodes are providing you with a bunch of value.
1:22
So today's episode is called eating well is a form of self respect. Not everything is about diet culture. What I mean by this is people will be like, don't label food as good or bad. Stop labeling food as good or bad. Let's not make this about diet culture.
1:41
And, okay, let's be clear. Diet culture, to me means obsession around food, and losing weight really fast in generally a pretty unsustainable way. There is a lot of shame, there is a lot of restriction.
1:58
And diet culture is not about health. It's not about longevity. It's not about designing a lifestyle that works for you.
2:09
When it comes down to it. Eating well, is the greatest form of self love, and respect you could possibly give to yourself. It's not about diet culture, it's about connecting with your body.
2:25
It's about removing foods that for lack of a better word, make you feel like shit. So when people say, stop labeling food as good or bad, I can understand where that comes from.
2:40
Because we want to have a healthy relationship with food and a healthy relationship with our bodies. So yes, I agree. Like, let's stop using that language good or bad. I don't use that language with clients.
2:54
I say this is healthy. This is not as healthy. This promotes inflammation. This reduces inflammation. Everything in moderation is what is what I believe, do the very best you can, okay.
3:07
I always say life is about choice. You get to choose what you fuel and what you feed your body with. But I think it's really important. How I work with clients is I explain how foods affect systems in the body.
3:25
It's pillar number three of the fat fuelled female method. It's called ecosystem of the body. Because when people understand this, they have a lot more really conviction and ownership and commitment to their health goals and journey because they intuitively understand what is happening internally in the body.
3:46
I always say education brings motivation. When people know better, they do better win whatever capacity that is for them. So say your goal is to balance your blood sugar because your energy is up and down all the time you have brain fog, or you want to repair your gut lining or improve your digestion.
4:11
You're bloated or constipated. Or you want to go into ketosis, you want to train your body to run off to fuel sources. You want to see what it feels like to burn fat for fuel opposed to carbohydrates.
4:23
Well, all of these, all of these things you want to work towards, you have to remove certain foods from from your nutrition. It's fundamental, but this doesn't mean it's about diet culture.
4:37
It means you're removing suspect foods, inflammatory foods, foods that can affect the gut lining foods that can affect your digestion, to strengthen your inner ecology. And it doesn't mean you have to remove these foods forever.
4:53
It's about trial and error and seeing how you feel and how your body your own unique, beautiful body feels removing different types of foods. And then you can cycle them back in four to six weeks and see how you feel.
5:08
But I guarantee you once you remove inflammatory foods and oils, and reduce the sugar and inflammatory oils and reduce the sugar intake and eat more real foods, more real high quality foods, you will feel like a different person. And you won't want to go back to your old way of eating and thinking about food.
5:30
So the problem is most people don't recognize the connection with the food they eat, the energy they have and the thoughts they think I've heard this in a documentary, maybe you've heard this before on a podcast, I can't recall where I got this information from.
5:46
But I've heard it multiple times that sugar is more addictive than cocaine. And where this comes to be really problematic and scary is our future generation or future children raised in a world where they have so much sugar every day. Think juices, puddings, packaged goods, also, you know fake meats, refined oils, all these foods are supposed to constitute nutritious meals and become staples in our nutrition.
6:19
But in 5, 10 15, 20 years, when these children grow in to adults, what will their health look like if people's diets are loaded with all these inflammatory foods, fake foods that lacked nutrition that lacked nutrient density, that don't support the body and don't prevent disease.
6:44
We already see it now like children who are obese, having soda and fast food as staples in their nutrition who are addicted to sugar, or adults on five plus medications for diabetes, heart disease, cholesterol, were all these conditions where all of these pathologies can be supported by eating better quality, real foods.
7:11
When you take a pill, you're addressing the symptom, not the source, it's a bandaid solution, you're not getting to the root cause of this issue. And I mean, how many people are sick based on two things. Number one, poor nutrition. That's I think 70 to 80% of it. And then number two lack of movement.
7:35
If our future generation is raised and taught about proper nutrition, they will be ready to thrive and set themselves up for success and have high standards of what they can achieve and what they choose to put into their bodies. And they and they will understand how they feel and how they perform their best.
7:58
And if we don't do anything, there's just going to be more sickness, more money spent on pharmaceuticals each year, with people not getting better. And our younger generation, they don't have to learn nutrition from outdated textbooks.
8:14
There's so many digital programs and courses, audio books, books, you can read podcasts, all of it where you can become your own health advocate and step into that expansive version of yourself who takes full responsibility for your own health and hacking your own biology.
8:36
And one of my main roles and passions as a nutritionist and coach is to disrupt this old way of thinking when it comes to nutrition. help spread awareness so that our future generation can grow up in a world and understand that food is the most powerful medicine on the planet.
8:58
And removing foods that don't make you feel good will be specific to you. It is your right your choice. And it is not about diet culture. Feel empowered by wanting to take full control of your health and your biology.
9:16
Lean into that feeling of feeling good every day by what you choose to fuel your body with. So that concludes this episode.
9:26
Remember, eating well is the greatest form of self respect and love that you can give to yourself and everyone around you. Because when you feel better, when you have better energy, you show up better in the world. It is the ripple effect right?
9:44
When you are more optimistic and more positive that is going to transcend to everyone around you that you love and care about. So thank you so much for listening and I will catch you next week.
